University Physics
Physics 2 (Electricity & Magnetism)
The calculus-based second physics course: electric and magnetic fields, circuits and electromagnetic induction.
Curriculum / Syllabus
- Electric Charge, Coulomb's Law and Electric Fields
- Gauss's Law
- Electric Potential and Capacitance
- Current, Resistance and DC Circuits
- Magnetic Fields and Magnetic Forces
- Sources of the Magnetic Field and Ampère's Law
- Faraday's Law, Inductance and AC Circuits
Exam & Course Strategy
Most of the difficulty comes from the integrals: choosing the right symmetry for Gauss's and Ampère's laws and setting up charge and current distributions. We practise these setups on many geometries.
